  • Stephen A. Venzie has been named as the 2010-2011 Co-Chair of the Delaware Contractors Association's Young Executives Committee

 

  • In the fall of 2009, Bruce L. Phillips successfully defended U.S.-based Decon Laboratories, Inc. against a motion to dimiss for lack of personal jurisidiction filed by UK-based Decon Laboratories, Ltd in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The ruling which analyzed in personam jurisdiction under Section 12 of the Clayton Act led to a settlement between the two competitors enaged in the business of manufacturing industrial cleaning agents and effectively voided a 1987 non-compete agreement between the two companies.   • On September 24, 2009, Kevin G. Amadio spoke to higher education real estate and construction lawyers on surety bond drafting issues at the seventh annual Higher Education Real Estate Lawyers (HEREL) Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. For more information about this conference, click here.

 

  • Howard D. Venzie, Jr. has been named a national 2009 Super Lawyer in the categories of Construction/Surety Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution and will be featured in the September 2009 Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition.

 

  • Howard D. Venzie, Jr. has also been named as a 2009 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the categories of Construction/Surety Law and and Alternative Dispute Resolution and is featured in the 2009 issue of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and in Philadelphia magazine's June 2009 issue.

This is the fourth year in a row that Mr. Venzie has been named in the peer review publication.

 

  • Sam L. Warshawer has been named as a 2009 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the categories of Construction Litigation and Construction/Surety Law and is featured in the 2009 issue of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and in Philadelphia magazine's June 2009 issue.

  • On January 28, 2009, Stephen A. Venzie was elected to the Board of Directors for the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of the American Concrete Institute for a three year term.

 

  • On November 13, 2008, Howard D. Venzie, Jr. and Stephen A. Venzie presented a seminar to members of the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of the American Concrete Institute on Managing the Risks of Defects in Concrete Construction. For a summary of this presentation, click here.

  • On November 6, 2008, Howard D. Venzie, Jr. spoke at the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry's conference titled "The Construction Contracts Program: Understanding and Negotiating the Clauses in the New Industry Form Documents" held at the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.   • On July 24, 2008, Howard D. Venzie, Jr. and Stephen A. Venzie presented a seminar to members of the Delaware Contractors Association on the 2007 changes to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Contract Documents.

  • Howard D. Venzie, Jr. served as co-chair of Mealey's Construction Litigation Conference held on May 20-21, 2008 at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Venzie also spoke at the conference on the topics of alternative dispute resolution and differing site conditions.   • On January 31, 2008, Patrick A. Costello joined the firm as an associate.

 

  • On January 16, 2008, Howard D. Venzie, Jr. spoke at the Annual Meeting of the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of the American Concrete Institute on the topic of the January 1, 2007 Amendments to the Pennsylvania Mechanics' Lien Law of 1963.
